Call Me from the Grave is an original blues musical loosely based on the life of songwriter, guitarist, and blues singer, Robert Johnson. Johnson’s life (and death) have become notorious for the mystery in which they are shrouded. For decades, legend has had it that Johnson sold his soul at a crossroads in rural Mississippi in exchange for his musical ability. Call Me from the Grave explores the lead up to and aftermath of that fateful event. I illustrated posters for the show, depicting Robert Johnson rising from three graves, referencing the three gravestones that each claim to be Johnson's burial place. I chose to format the poster in the style of a blues album cover.
